The Library
The library is the heart of Blue Gate Fields Junior School. Housing more than 32,000 books, there is reading to be enjoyed by everyone here! In fact, nearly 26,000 books have been borrowed since school began in September!
Lunchtimes are a perfect time to browse the shelves, choose books and take recommendations from the library assistants.
Our librarian Sue, along with the teachers, advises and supports the children to make borrowing choices each week.
Parents are invited after school to visit and enjoy the fiction and non-fiction books with their children. The library is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4pm for families.
In addition to borrowing books, the library is the hub for many other reading activities. Pupils take part in the annual Tower Hamlets Book Awards, Tower Hamlets Creative Writing Competition, numerous author visits, CLiPPA poetry awards and Royal Society book awards.
Poetry Week and Story telling week are supported by the library and, of course, World Book Day!
